Maria Kvaløy Kirste has a master’s degree within energy, climate and environmental economics from Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU).

At Menon, Maria’s work primarily focuses on issues related to climate, green transition, climate justice, and environment within the public sector. She has experience in calculating the climate impact of various measures in municipalities, the business sector, and from land-use changes (LULUCF). Many of her projects have concentrated on climate transition, climate accounting, and climate management in Norwegian municipalities and county municipalities. She has also contributed to developing methodologies for reporting financed emissions from loan-financed investments in municipalities and county municipalities in line with CSRD and SBTi.

A common feature of several of the projects Maria has been a part of is the extensive use of both quantitative and qualitative data collection and methodological triangulation.
