Trade and investment barriers in Argentina
Upon request by the Norwegian Foreign Ministry and the Royal Embassy of Norway in Buenos Aires, Menon Economics has conducted an analysis of trade and investment barriers facing Norwegian and other foreign firms operating in Argentina. Overall, the study finds that the country’s change in political direction and the ongoing reforms have generated a new sense of optimism in the business community. An overwhelming majority of respondents regarded labor regulations and standoffs between unions and employers as the most problematic factor for business operations. Other main barriers include time-consuming and costly administrative requirements for starting a business and paying taxes. Among the non-regulatory barriers, respondents rated corruption, inflation, and political risks as their main concerns. Download the report here.
