Kjetil Mastad Vestergaard is a senior economist at Menon Economics, specializing in environmental and climate-related topics. He has nine years of experience in public administration from the Norwegian Environment Agency and the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate (NVE). This has provided him with extensive cross-sector experience and a deep understanding of roles and collaboration between ministries, agencies, organizations, private enterprises, and consultants. Additionally, he has worked as a power market analyst in the private sector, serving major energy companies across the Nordic region. Kjetil has worked closely with biologists, natural scientists, and legal experts for many years, giving him a strong understanding of how socio-economic assessments can be tailored to different challenges. He has extensive experience with regulatory revisions and policy evaluations in the environmental field, including in construction, petroleum, urban planning, threatened nature, and pollution. A particular focus of his work has been describing non-priced environmental impacts. Kjetil holds a Master’s degree in economics from NTNU, with a specialization in environmental and resource economics, as well as studies in project management.
