Sigrid Hernes is a senior economist at Menon Economics, specializing in industrial economics. With six years of experience at the company, she has worked on a broad portfolio of projects for both public and private clients, focusing on green business development, renewable energy, international trade, and industrial and innovation policy. As a project manager, Sigrid has led multiple studies on the offshore wind market. One such study, conducted in 2024, analyzed the opportunities and future outlook for both floating and fixed-bottom offshore wind in Norway. These studies have been crucial in highlighting the potential of selected renewable energy technologies in the transition to a low-emission economy while also identifying existing barriers. Her work includes projections of emerging energy technologies and assessments of Norwegian companies' global competitiveness. This research has provided an important foundation for strategy and policy measures by both industry and public authorities to accelerate the green transition. In addition to her policy-oriented work, Sigrid has provided strategic advisory services to private companies in the offshore wind sector, applying her expertise to support their growth and development. Sigrid holds a business degree from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH), specializing in economics (with research distinction), and a CEMS Master in International Management from NHH and UCD Michael Smurfit Business School. As a dedicated project manager, Sigrid has successfully led large and complex projects, demonstrating strong leadership and quality assurance skills. She frequently presents Menon’s reports on green transition and exports at major conferences and events, including Arendalsuka, the Vestland Conference, the Zero Conference, the Southern Norway Energy Conference, and Floating Wind Days in Haugesund.
