Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Climate Change

Climate policy and the consequences of climate change affect all parts of the economy. Menon has a deep understanding of analyses on how society effectively can reach its climate targets, the potential consequences of climate change, and how we can adapt to such changes.

MENON SØ 0023

Menon takes a broad socio-economic approach to these issues, allowing us to consider multiple factors that are relevant in policy development. Our work is also based on robust calculation models.

All sectors must contribute to emission reductions. We assist municipalities with projections and analyses of action packages to meet targets, calculate emissions, and advise the state and municipalities on how they can reduce emissions in their value chains. Menon also plays a significant role in the leading framework agreements on studies of climate and environmental issues in the Ministry of Climate and Environment and the Norwegian Environment Agency. The analyses range from distributional effects of climate policy to calculations of Norwegian-related emissions abroad. Menon has developed its own environmental economic model with emission data for all Norwegian companies, which we use to calculate both Norwegian and global greenhouse gas emissions from economic activities for municipalities and private entities. We assist public and private organisations in understanding their vulnerability to climate change, which cost-effective measures to implement, and the impacts these will have their operations and society.
