On behalf of the Southern Regional Assembly, Menon has conducted an economic impact analysis of the ports in Ireland's Southern Region. We have analysed both the direct economic impacts of the ports and the ports' economic impact along the value chain. The former was achieved by collecting financial statements for all companies in the port sector. The latter was estimated using Menon's European economic impact model, which uses data from Eurostat and Nature to estimate employment and value added for all regions in Europe.

Additionally, we have assessed how the ports can support growth in four emerging industries (offshore wind, alternative fuels, maritime tourism, and aquaculture) and what growth barriers the ports can help to overcome.
