Ståle Navrud and Henrik Lindhjem at Menon Centre for Environmental and Resource Economics (MERE) have written a chapter in a recently published UN report. The report addresses how natural and human capital can better be included in measures of nations’ wealth and progress. It also considers the recent discussion of increasing inequality within and between countries. Navrud and Lindhjem, with co-authors from Statistics Norway and the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA), focus specifically on the challenges of including the value of natural capital and its ecosystem services in national accounts.
